Congratulations to our research nurse practitioner, Alana Saddic, who received a 2024 Advanced Practice Provider Award from the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases at The Liver Meeting in San Diego. The honor recognizes research excellence and comes with a $1,000 award. Her abstract title was “Health Literacy and Education Level are Determinants of Disease Severity in Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease.” Since 2023, she has directed the clinical course of research participants in clinical trials, assured study participant safety, and managed clinical research protocols and procedures for the Institute.
This year, the AASLD added to its list of TLM abstract awards the Arun J. Sanyal Travel Award, in honor of our director. The inaugural award was given to Ângelo Zambam de Mattos, M.D., Ph.D., of the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre, Brazil. His abstract was on the “Impact of the different stages of acute kidney injury in cirrhosis - a prospective multicenter cohort study.” The award is for early career investigators studying MASLD from Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and elsewhere in Latin America.
